Qualifications

• Master's degree relevant to Education, Inclusive Education, Professional Practice, or Life Skills in Foundation Phase.
• A relevant teaching qualification.
• At least two years’ lecturing at tertiary level or five years’ Foundation Phase teaching at school level.
• Specialized knowledge of methodologies in the relevant teaching subjects.
• Fluency in Afrikaans (BEd tuition in Wellington is through Afrikaans).

Responsibilities

• Teaching in Education, Inclusive Education, Professional Practice, Life Skills and Academic Literacy in Foundation Phase/Diploma in Education and Grade R.
• Curriculum development and other learning materials.
• Supervising students on teaching practice.
• Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision).
• Academic administration, development, and administration.
• Assessment and quality assurance; networking with schools and other networks.
• Coaching and mentoring of students and staff.
• Meticulous planning and organizing skills.
• Perform other functions as assigned by the head of department.
• Expert subject knowledge (Technical & Professional knowledge and skills).
• Teaching in relevant subject areas in Foundation Phase department.
• Curriculum development and other learning materials.
• Supervising students on teaching practice.
• Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision).
• Academic administration, development, and administration.
• Adequate content and pedagogical content knowledge.
• Assessment and Quality Assurance.
• Good work ethics and ability to manage work.
• Mentoring and support of students (and staff).
