Job summary

Rosebank College, part of the Independent Institute of Education, invites applications for a lecturer in Information Systems. You will teach modules, engage students for assessments, track progress, and support at‑risk students while collaborating with the Central Academic Team on assessments and results analysis.

Requirements include a Master’s degree (NQF 9) in IS or related IT/Data Science, lecturing experience in databases/big data, and familiarity with Excel and Power BI.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in Information Systems or closely related IT/Data Science field.
• Lecturing/tutoring experience in databases, programming, big data, data analytics or data science.
• Work experience as data analyst/scientist or related; familiarity with Excel and Power BI is advantageous.
• 2 to 3 years lecturing or formal tutoring.
• 1 to 3 years industry-specific experience in area of specialization is advantageous.
• One NQF level higher than the qualification being taught.
• Copy of academic transcript.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and engage students based on module requirements.
• Manage resources including academic materials and consulting with the Information Centre.
• Update learning management system and provide feedback to students.
• Engage and prepare students for assessments, identify at risk students, and develop assessments with Central Academic Team briefs.
• Monitor student engagement and assessment submissions with escalation.
• Attend and participate in academic meetings across faculties.
• Reflect on, review, and analyse student module results.
• Support monitoring of at-risk students in modules assigned to lecture.
• Academic Professional Development: complete required interventions annually.
