Job summary

Rosebank College, part of The IIE, seeks a lecturer to teach across IT/data analytics modules, engage students, and support assessments. You will track progress, prepare assessments, and collaborate with the Central Academic Team.

Requirements include two Master’s degrees at NQF level 9 in Information Systems or related fields, plus lecturing and industry experience. The role is on-site with standard campus hours and a focus on quality teaching.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Information Systems or Data Science or related IT field.
• Second Master’s degree in cognate business/tech with IT content.
• Lecturing experience in databases, programming, big data, data analytics or data science.
• Work experience as data analyst/scientist or related; Excel/Power BI skills advantageous.
• 2–3 years lecturing or tutoring.
• 1–3 years industry-specific experience advantageous.
• One NQF level higher than the qualification taught.
• Copy of academic transcript.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and engage students based on module requirements.
• Manage resources including academic materials and consult with the Information Centre.
• Update learning management system and provide feedback to students.
• Engage and prepare students for assessments; identify at-risk students and develop assessments.
• Monitor student engagement and assessment submissions with escalation.
• Attend academic meetings across faculties.
• Reflect on, review, and analyse student module results.
• Support monitoring of at-risk students in modules assigned to lecture.
• Complete academic professional development interventions annually.
