Job summary

Maersk seeks a Contract Logistics Industrial Engineer to join the Southern Africa & Islands MCL team in Cape Town. You will apply lean and Six Sigma methods to optimize warehousing, distribution and cold storage, while aligning with global Maersk standards.

You will lead process improvements, train warehouse teams, and support KPI tracking, safety initiatives, and technology rollouts across SA sites.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management.
• Basic Lean principles or Six Sigma knowledge.
• Understanding of physical logistics and warehousing processes (3PL is a plus).
• Strong process improvement and project management skills.
• Experience developing SOPs or SWIs.
• Experience with a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
• Ability to develop layouts and data-driven insights.

Responsibilities

• Research and implement contract logistics best practices across South Africa.
• Develop best-in-class Contract Logistics processes for warehousing, distribution and cold storage.
• Apply lean and Six Sigma to improve space, flow and cost during projects.
• Drive global Maersk standards within Contract Logistics operations.
• Train warehouse teams on Lean and Six Sigma to foster continuous improvement.
• Implement 5S and Lean Visual Factory across sites.
• Support KPI tracking and site maturity assessments.
• Assist with implementation of innovative technologies in operations.
• Support change management during continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support Health and Safety initiatives to drive safety culture.
• Close findings from site maturity assessments.
