About the Role

Our client, a prestigious engineering and planning firm, is seeking an accomplished Lead Water Resources Engineer to spearhead their initiatives in **Pretoria**. This critical leadership role involves the strategic planning, design, and implementation of integrated water management systems for urban and regional development projects throughout Gauteng. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, wastewater treatment, and water supply systems, with a proven ability to develop sustainable and resilient solutions. You will guide a team of engineers, collaborate closely with urban planners and environmental scientists, and serve as a key technical advisor to clients and municipal authorities. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the water resources engineering aspects of major urban development and infrastructure projects.
• Develop comprehensive water management plans, including stormwater management, flood control, water supply, and wastewater systems.
• Conduct hydrological and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM, EPANET).
• Design water and wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, and detention/retention basins.
• Oversee the preparation of detailed engineering designs, specifications, and tender documents.
• Manage project teams, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
• Provide expert technical advice to clients, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop junior water resources engineers and technical staff.
• Conduct feasibility studies, impact assessments, and cost-benefit analyses for water infrastructure projects.
• Stay current with advancements in water resources engineering, environmental regulations, and sustainable water management practices.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources Engineering.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in water resources engineering, including significant project leadership.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration with ECSA.
• Demonstrated expertise in hydrological and hydraulic modeling, design of water/wastewater systems, and urban drainage.
• Proficiency with relevant engineering software packages.
• Strong project management skills, including team leadership, financial oversight, and client relationship management.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with South African environmental legislation and water management policies.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Experience in public consultation and stakeholder engagement is advantageous.
