Placements24 invites a Structural Design Engineer to join a civil engineering team in Polokwane, Limpopo. You will design and analyze structural elements for buildings, bridges, and infrastructure, using software like SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, and Revit Structure, while ensuring code compliance.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree with a structural focus, 5–7 years of experience, and a solid grasp of SANS/Eurocode.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
• 5–7 years of experience in structural design of civil infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, and Revit Structure.
• Strong understanding of concrete, steel, timber, and masonry design principles.
• Knowledge of relevant building codes and standards (SANS, Eurocode).
• Experience with geotechnical considerations and foundation design.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and project management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural elements for buildings, bridges, and other civil infrastructure projects using engineering principles and software.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculations in accordance with relevant building codes and standards.
• Collaborate with architects, project managers, and construction teams to ensure designs are practical and meet project requirements.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during the construction phase.
• Perform structural assessments of existing facilities and recommend rehabilitation or upgrade solutions.
• Utilize structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro) for modeling and simulation.
• Ensure compliance with local and national building regulations and safety standards.
• Review shop drawings and construction submittals from contractors.
• Contribute to tender preparation and project proposal development.
• Stay current with advancements in structural engineering materials, techniques, and software.
