Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead Renewable Energy Electrical Engineer to drive large-scale solar and wind projects in the Western Cape, based in George. You will oversee electrical design, grid connections, and performance analyses to ensure robust, grid-compliant assets.

You bring a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Pr Eng or eligible, 8+ years in electrical engineering with renewables, and strong leadership and communication skills to mentor teams and liaise with utilities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering; Pr Eng or eligible for ECSA.
• 8+ years in electrical engineering with at least 5 years in renewables (solar PV or wind).
• Experience with grid-tied renewable energy systems and associated infrastructure.
• Proficiency in power system modelling and simulation software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical engineering aspects from conceptualization to commissioning.
• Develop detailed electrical designs for solar farms and wind installations.
• Perform system performance analyses, energy yield assessments, and interconnection studies.
• Specify and procure electrical equipment (inverters, transformers, switchgear, cabling).
• Ensure compliance with South African standards, grid codes and regulatory requirements.
• Manage contractors and vendors during construction.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team.
• Contribute to design process improvements and standards.
