Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer for a fully remote role responsible for championing process safety across Oil & Gas operations. You will develop and implement robust Safety Management Systems, conduct PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA) and risk assessments, and lead MOC, PSSR, and mechanical integrity programs.

The role requires a Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical Engineering and 9+ years of Oil & Gas process safety experience, with strong leadership and regulatory

Qualifications

• Minimum of 9 years of process safety engineering in Oil & Gas.
• Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and standards.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer for a fully remote position, tasked with championing and advancing process safety across all their Oil & Gas operations . You will be instrumental in developing and implementing robust safety management systems, conducting comprehensive risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory requirements. This role is critical for safeguarding personnel, assets, and the environment, and it offers a significant opportunity to influence safety culture and strategy on a global scale, working with diverse teams and leading initiatives that enhance operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive process safety management (PSM) programs.
• Lead and conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and consequence modeling.
• Develop and oversee procedures for management of change (MOC), pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR), and mechanical integrity.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel across the organization.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., API, OSHA, CCPS) and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 9 years of experience in process safety engineering, with a significant portion within the Oil & Gas industry .
• In-depth knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and standards.
• Proven experience conducting and leading PHAs and developing safety-critical procedures.
• Strong understanding of relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, capable of thriving in a remote, collaborative environment.
