Job summary

thyssenkrupp Uhde South Africa is seeking a Senior Lead Engineer to manage design and execution on energy and chemical projects within an EPC framework. You will lead PFD/P&ID reviews, participate in HAZOP/SIL, and guide 3D model reviews with a strong emphasis on safety, operability, and project delivery.

The ideal candidate holds a BSc Chemical Engineering with about 8 years of contracting experience in energy/chemical/refining or petrochemical sectors, with ECSA registration preferable.

Qualifications

• BSc Chemical Engineering degree is required or equivalent.
• 8 years of engineering experience in contracting environment on energy/chemical/refining/petrochemical projects.
• Professional Registration with ECSA is preferable.
• Experience in feasibility, concept and basic engineering is essential.
• Experience in brownfield project execution.

Responsibilities

• Interact with clients to understand and deliver to client expectations.
• Perform lead engineer role on various projects.
• Lead or facilitate PFD and P&ID Reviews, HAZOP and SIL reviews
• Participate in 3D model and constructability reviews
• Perform manpower planning and project schedule management for projects with a lead engineer role
• Develop design basis, process flow diagrams, mass & energy balances, utility balances
• Develop piping & instrument diagrams, mechanical flow diagrams, and utility flow diagrams
• Develop process equipment and instrument data sheets, process philosophies, equipment/ line/ tie-in/ fluid/ utility consumption/ waste & emission
• Develop process philosophies, operating, safety and commissioning manuals
