About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Process Engineer to join their innovative team supporting operations in Pretoria. This senior role focuses on the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of chemical and physical processes within the Oil & Gas sector. You will provide technical leadership, guiding junior engineers and collaborating across disciplines to ensure efficient, safe, and environmentally sound operations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving process improvements and ensuring the reliability of processing facilities, contributing to the company's commitment to technological advancement and operational excellence from their Gauteng base.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and design of process systems, including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
- Optimize existing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
- Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP studies and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Troubleshoot process-related issues and implement effective solutions in collaboration with operations and maintenance teams.
- Mentor and guide junior process engineers, fostering technical development and knowledge sharing.
- Stay abreast of new process technologies and best practices in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules for process engineering initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in process engineering, specifically within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and P&ID development.
- Strong knowledge of unit operations, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Proven leadership experience and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for safety and environmental management.
