Placements24 in Sandton is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to lead design, development, and testing of advanced power conversion systems such as inverters and DC/AC converters for next-generation applications.

You will work with an R&D team, selecting power semiconductors (MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC, GaN), implementing control strategies, performing SPICE simulations, and validating prototypes. A Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years' experience are required.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics.
• 5+ years of industry experience in power electronics design.
• Strong theoretical knowledge of power converter topologies and control.
• Hands-on experience with component selection, circuit design, and laboratory testing.
• Experience with EMC design and testing is a plus.
• Proficiency with simulation software and schematic capture tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-efficiency power electronic circuits and systems (e.g., DC-DC converters, AC-DC converters, inverters).
• Select appropriate power semiconductor devices (MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC, GaN) and passive components.
• Develop and implement control strategies for power converters.
• Perform circuit simulations and analysis using tools like SPICE, PSpice, or similar.
• Conduct hardware testing, debugging, and validation of prototypes.
• Collaborate with firmware engineers and PCB designers throughout the product development lifecycle.
