Placements24 seeks an experienced Lead Nanny to join a loving family in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. You will oversee daily care, development and wellbeing for two children, aged 5 and 8, ensuring routines and safety are maintained with professionalism.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years in childcare, including 2 in a lead role, plus First Aid/CPR certification, a valid driver’s license, and excellent English. Accommodation may be provided, with a provident fund and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in professional childcare with leadership exposure.
• Lead nanny experience of at least 2 years is preferred.
• Certified in First Aid and CPR is required.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

• References from previous employers are mandatory and a background check will be conducted.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, nurturing, and possess exceptional organizational skills. You will be responsible for creating a stimulating and safe environment, ensuring the children's routines are maintained, and facilitating their educational and social development. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging daily schedules for the children, including educational activities, playtime, and rest periods.


• Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for the children according to dietary guidelines and preferences.


• Oversee homework assistance and encourage a positive attitude towards learning.


• Organize and supervise outings and extracurricular activities.


• Ensure a safe and clean environment for the children at all times, including tidying play areas and children's rooms.


• Manage children's laundry and ensure their wardrobes are maintained.


• Administer basic first aid when necessary and maintain accurate health records.


• Communicate regularly with parents regarding children's progress, behavior, and any concerns.


• Provide transportation for the children to and from school and activities as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional childcare experience, with at least 2 years in a lead nanny or similar role.


• Certified in First Aid and CPR.


• Excellent knowledge of child development stages and age-appropriate activities.


• Strong cooking skills and experience preparing healthy meals for children.


• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.


• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).


• Ability to demonstrate patience, creativity, and enthusiasm.
