Job summary

Key Recruitment Group in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to drive the full design lifecycle for steel structures and subsea equipment. The role requires leadership across concept through commissioning, strong proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, and site-support responsibilities during manufacture and testing.

Qualifications

Engineering degree required (B.Eng/B.Sc/B.Tech) with strongMechanical engineering fundamentals.
Around 10 years of mechanical/structural design experience in heavy industry incl. mining, marine, offshore or subsea.
Proven proficiency in SolidWorks (weldments, sheet metal, large assemblies) and AutoCAD for fabrication drawings.

Responsibilities

Own mechanical and structural designs from concept to commissioning.
Analyze complex design requirements and interfaces to deliver practical solutions.
Coordinate design activities across multiple projects with technical inputs and deliverables.
Produce manufacturable design solutions for steel/aluminium structures and subsea equipment; maintain documentation.
Lead design reviews and manage design changes with quality control.
