Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Mathematics Tutor in Cape Town to guide and inspire students in a dynamic academic support center. The role blends in-person and remote sessions to accommodate diverse learning needs, and includes developing tutoring strategies and materials, as well as coaching junior tutors.

The ideal candidate will hold a master's degree or higher in mathematics or a related field, with at least three years' post-secondary tutoring experience and proven leadership.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 3 years of tutoring or teaching mathematics at a post-secondary level.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic or tutoring setting.
• Proficiency in online tutoring platforms and virtual collaboration tools.
• Exceptional ability to explain complex mathematical concepts clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in advanced mathematics subjects, both in-person and online.
• Develop and refine tutoring methodologies and curriculum supplementary materials.
• Train, mentor, and supervise a team of mathematics tutors, ensuring high standards of instruction.
• Assess student progress, identify learning gaps, and tailor instructional approaches accordingly.
• Collaborate with faculty and academic advisors to align tutoring services with course objectives and student support needs.
