Key Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, test, and certify structured cabling systems (copper and fiber optic) within data center environments.
• Deploy, configure, and manage network hardware, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Monitor network traffic and system performance using specialized tools, identifying and resolving potential issues proactively.
• Respond to network incidents and outages, performing timely root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, cabling layouts, and inventory management.
• Ensure adherence to network security policies and best practices, including physical security of network equipment.
• Collaborate with senior network engineers and IT support teams on network upgrades and projects.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of network changes and deployments.
• Adhere to strict safety procedures and company protocols within the data center facility in Centurion.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Network Technician or in a similar IT infrastructure support role, preferably in a data center environment.
• Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs) and network topologies.
• Hands‑on experience with network hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, HP).
• Proficiency in structured cabling standards and fiber optic technologies.
• Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).
• Knowledge of network security principles and firewall management is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
• Strong communication and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
• Must possess a valid driver's license for potential site visits within Gauteng.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
