Job summary

Placements24 in Rustenburg is seeking an experienced Lead Process Engineer with hydrometallurgy expertise to oversee design, implementation and optimization of complex processes in our mining operations.

You will lead a team of engineers, drive process improvements, ensure safety and environmental compliance, and deliver technical reports and economic evaluations.

The role requires a chemical engineering or metallurgy degree and at least seven years of hands-on experience in hydrometallurgy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on process engineering experience with a hydrometallurgy focus.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and optimization of hydrometallurgical processes (leaching, solvent extraction, electrowinning).
• Oversee commissioning and start-up of new plants and equipment.
• Mentor and direct a team of process engineers and technicians.
• Perform process modelling and simulation to identify bottlenecks and improvements.
• Develop control strategies for stable, efficient operation.
• Ensure safety and environmental compliance within the plant.
• Collaborate with R&D to evaluate new technologies.
• Prepare technical reports, economic evaluations, and proposals.
• Manage stakeholder relationships with internal departments and suppliers.
