Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Chemical Engineer for a pivotal role in hydrometallurgy at a premier mining facility in Klerksdorp, North West. You will design and optimize leaching, SX, EW circuits, and lead pilots to improve metal recoveries while ensuring environmental and safety standards are met.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy with 7+ years in hydrometallurgical design and operation within mining, and demonstrates strong data analysis,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy.
• Minimum of 7 years of hydrometallurgical process design and operation experience in mining.
• Strong analytical skills and data interpretation; able to work under pressure.
• Pr.Eng registration is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize hydrometallurgical processes (leaching, SX, EW).
• Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale testing to evaluate new process routes and technologies.
• Analyze process data to identify performance bottlenecks and improvements.
• Develop process simulations and P&IDs for circuits and projects.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards in mineral processing.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and provide technical plant support.
• Collaborate with metallurgists, geologists, and plant operators.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and project proposals.
• Stay updated on hydrometallurgical advancements and best practices.
