Job summary

Curro Somerset West in Cape Town is seeking a Group 3 Preschool Teacher (full-time) to commence duties in January 2027. The role involves teaching according to the Curro curriculum and ECD guidelines for the preschool phase, with a focus on knowledge transfer, skills development and positive learner attitudes.

The successful candidate will plan lessons, manage administration, coordinate assemblies and oversee classroom activities, while maintaining strong communication with parents and staff.

Qualifications

• Diploma in ECD or equivalent (minimum NQF level 6).
• Minimum 1 year of experience as an ECD teacher.
• Knowledge of the IEB curriculum.
• Proven facilitation, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
• Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach and coordinate a range of subjects per Curro curriculum and ECD guidelines.
• Plan and manage administration including lesson planning, assessment and meetings.
• Manage the classroom and maintain discipline and communication with learners and parents.
• Observe and record learner behaviour and provide feedback to parents and management.
• Plan and manage extramural activities and aftercare, including homework.
