Placements24 seeks a seasoned Lead Geologist to head geological exploration and evaluation efforts from anywhere in South Africa. You will direct seismic interpretation, well data analysis and 3D model validation, while guiding a remote geoscience team.

The role requires a Master’s or PhD in Geology with 10+ years in oil and gas exploration, strong leadership, and proven prospect generation across basins. Remote collaboration with engineers and JV partners is essential.

• Over 10 years of oil and gas exploration geology experience, with substantial lead/supervisory roles.
• Extensive experience with seismic interpretation software (Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Deep knowledge of sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, and structural geology.
• Proven track record in prospect generation and evaluation across settings.
• Strong leadership and remote team management abilities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with well logging interpretation and core analysis techniques.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the global energy market, is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Geologist to spearhead geological exploration and evaluation efforts. This is a fully remote role, enabling you to contribute your expertise from any location within South Africa.
