The ideal candidate has MSc/PhD in Geology with 10+ years in mineral exploration, strong leadership, and proficiency in Leapfrog, Datamine, ArcGIS. Travel and regulatory liaison are part of the role.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Geology or related geoscience.
• 10+ years in mineral exploration and resource geology with supervision.
• Experience with geological modeling software Leapfrog, Datamine, ArcGIS.
• Knowledge of SA mineral resource legislation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the geological team, providing technical expertise and mentorship.
• Develop and execute geological exploration programs to identify and delineate mineral resources.
• Oversee collection, logging, and analysis of drill core, rock samples, and other geological data.
• Conduct geological mapping and surveys to understand subsurface structures and lithology.
• Perform resource and reserve estimations using industry-standard software and methodologies.
• Collaborate with mine planning engineers to integrate geological models into mine designs.
• Ensure the quality and integrity of all geological data through QA/QC protocols.
• Prepare detailed geological reports, presentations, and technical documentation for management.
• Liaise with external consultants, regulatory bodies, and research institutions.
• Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental best practices within the geological department.

• Proven track record in estimating mineral resources for various commodities.
