Job summary

Sandvik Mining in South Africa seeks a qualified mechanic to install, repair and commission Sandvik crushing and screening equipment at mine sites. You will diagnose faults, perform breakdown repairs, and conduct planned maintenance and inspections to ensure continuous production.

The role requires reading schematic drawings, strong problem-solving, and willingness to travel to remote locations. Experience with Sandvik CH/CS/CJ/QJ ranges and PLCs is advantageous; safety and reporting

Qualifications

• Qualified N6 Millwright, Mechanical Fitter, or equivalent trade qualification.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience on cone crushers, jaw crushers, screens, feeders, and related crushing equipment.
• Experience with Sandvik Mobiles & Static Crushers i.e. CH, CS, CJ, QA, QE, and QJ product ranges would be advantageous.
• Experience in troubleshooting hydraulic, mechanical, lubrication, and control systems.
• Experience working on mine sites and in remote locations; willing to travel.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office and reporting systems not negotiable).

Responsibilities

• Perform breakdown repairs and fault finding on Sandvik crushing and screening equipment.
• Conduct planned maintenance, inspections, and condition assessments.
• Perform equipment commissioning and installation support.
• Complete technical reports and service documentation.
• Provide technical support to customers on site and remotely.
• Conduct root cause investigations and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist customers with maintenance planning and best practices.
• Deliver operator and maintenance training.
• Support parts identification and recommendations.
• Maintain a high standard of safety and compliance with mine and company requirements.
• Able to read schematic drawings.
