Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer for operations in Rustenburg. You will oversee the electrical design of large-scale industrial projects in mining and energy, guiding a team of engineers and technicians to deliver robust, compliant solutions.

You will manage schematics, numbers, and equipment specs while collaborating with project managers and multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring safety, efficiency, and high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of electrical design engineering experience in industrial/mining sectors.
• Proven experience leading design teams on large projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and Revit MEP for electrical layouts.
• Strong knowledge of HV/MV systems, power distribution, protection.
• Familiarity with SCADA, PLC, DCS systems.
• Excellent understanding of SANS/IEC standards and safety practices.
• Leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Registration as Pr. Eng with ECSA is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with significant experience in industrial or mining sectors.
• Proven experience in leading design teams and managing complex projects.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP) and simulation tools.
• Strong knowledge of high-voltage and medium-voltage systems, power distribution, and protection.
• Familiarity with SCADA, PLC, and DCS systems.
• Excellent understanding of relevant South African and international standards (SANS, IEC).
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment in Rustenburg.
