Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dynamic Lead Childminder and Activity Coordinator for a prestigious childcare facility in Sandton, Gauteng. You will oversee a small group of children aged 1–5, ensure safety and development, and lead engaging daily activities.

Collaboration with parents, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining high standards of care are essential. First Aid/CPR and a relevant ECD qualification are required.

Qualifications

• Recognized qualification in Early Childhood Development (ECD) or related field.
• 3–5 years in childcare with at least 1 year in lead/supervisory role.
• Experience planning and leading engaging children's activities.
• Strong knowledge of child development principles and best practices.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene standards in childcare.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proven leadership abilities to motivate others.
• Patience, creativity, responsibility, and love for children.
• First Aid and CPR certification is mandatory.
• Residing in or near Sandton preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and care for a group of young children, ensuring safety and emotional well-being.
• Develop and implement creative daily activity plans with educational games and crafts.
• Plan and execute special events and themed activities.
• Observe and document children's development and progress.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating learning environment.
• Communicate with parents and guardians, providing progress updates.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Mentor junior childcare staff or assistants.
• Prepare and serve healthy snacks and meals per dietary guidelines.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, nurturing atmosphere.
