Placements24 is seeking a Senior Nanny and Child Development Specialist for Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will lead child-centered activities, ensure safety, and collaborate closely with parents to support developmental milestones.

The role requires deep knowledge of early childhood education, child psychology, and strong communication skills to foster a nurturing, educational environment for toddlers and preschoolers.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of professional childcare experience.
• Qualifications in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Ability to create developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
• Excellent knowledge of child safety standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Driver's license and a clean driving record.
• First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Fluent in English; knowledge of other local languages is an advantage.
• Provide excellent references.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment adhering to safety protocols.
• Prepare nutritious meals and snacks according to dietary guidelines.
• Maintain daily logs of activities, feeding, sleep patterns, and observations.
• Assist with hygiene routines including bathing, dressing, and potty training.
• Foster positive behavior and guide children with patience.
• Communicate progress with parents regarding development and daily experiences.
• Organize and supervise playdates and outings in Johannesburg.
• Administer basic first aid and escalate health concerns when needed.
• Collaborate with other childcare professionals to share best practices.
