Placements24 in Nelspruit is seeking a Lead Computational Scientist to guide an advanced research team in applying computational methods to drug discovery and development. You will lead a group, develop modeling tools, and collaborate with experimental teams to accelerate progress.

The role requires a PhD and 8+ years in computational science, with experience in leading scientific teams and expertise in molecular modeling, cheminformatics, structural biology, or systems biology.

Qualifications

PhD in a quantitative field with substantial computational biology/chemistry experience.
8+ years in computational science, with drug discovery industry exposure.
Proven leadership of scientific teams.
Expertise in molecular modeling, cheminformatics, structural biology, or systems biology.
Strong programming in Python, C++, or Fortran with relevant scientific packages.

Responsibilities

Lead the computational science group with scientific direction and project management.
Develop and implement advanced computational models, simulations, and data analysis for biological systems.
Collaborate with experimental biologists, chemists, and pharmacologists to integrate computational findings.
Design studies using molecular dynamics, structure-based design, and systems biology.
Oversee development and maintenance of computational infrastructure and software tools.
Present results to internal teams and external partners.
