Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer in Benoni, Gauteng, to spearhead a cloud services development team. The hybrid role blends in-office collaboration with remote focus time, guiding cloud architecture, microservices, and DevOps practices.

Ideal candidate has 7+ years in software development, 3+ in leadership, and deep cloud expertise across AWS/Azure/GCP, plus Docker/Kubernetes and IaC like Terraform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of professional software development, with 3+ years in lead/senior role.
• Proven cloud design experience on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
• Expert in microservices, containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless tech.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and Terraform IaC.
• Solid SQL/NoSQL data modeling and performance tuning.
• Excellent problem-solving and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of scalable cloud-based software solutions.
• Mentor and guide a team of software engineers, fostering technical excellence and collaboration.
• Architect and implement robust microservices on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Drive best practices in software development, CI/CD, automated testing, and IaC.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to define technical roadmaps.
• Ensure performance, security, and cost-effectiveness of cloud services.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues; participate in on-call rotation.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technology selection; stay current with cloud trends.
