Placements24 is seeking a Lead Blockchain Architect to spearhead the design and implementation of next-generation decentralized platforms. This fully remote role is based in Tembisa, Gauteng, ZA, offering the chance to shape technical strategy and guide engineering teams.

You will define the architecture for scalable, secure blockchain systems, evaluate technologies, oversee smart contracts, mentor developers, and collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into robust solutions.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in software architecture; 5+ years in blockchain.
• Experience designing public, private, and consortium blockchains.
• Proficiency in Solidity, Vyper, or Rust and secure coding practices.
• Experience with Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric, or Corda.
• Cloud and containerization familiarity (AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes).

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
• 10+ years of experience in software architecture and development, with a minimum of 5 years dedicated to blockchain and distributed ledger technologies.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing complex blockchain architectures, including public, private, and consortium blockchains.
• Expertise in various consensus algorithms (e.g., PoW, PoS, PoA) and their trade-offs.
• Strong knowledge of smart contract development languages (e.g., Solidity, Vyper, Rust) and secure coding practices.
• Experience with major blockchain platforms (e.g., Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric, Corda).
• Proficiency in system design, performance tuning, and scalability strategies for distributed systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills, comfortable presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently and lead technical discussions in a remote environment.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
