Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Blockchain Engineer in East London, Eastern Cape. This hybrid role combines in-office collaboration with remote work, guiding a team to deliver scalable, secure decentralized apps.

You will shape technical direction, mentor engineers, enforce best practices, and oversee end-to-end lifecycles from concept to maintenance while collaborating with product management and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 5 years in blockchain technologies.
• Demonstrated experience leading development teams and managing technical projects.
• Expertise in smart contract development (Solidity, Vyper) and major platforms (Ethereum, Polygon).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, cryptography, and consensus algorithms.
• Experience with JavaScript, Python, or Go.
• Familiarity with front-end frameworks and Web3 integration.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of blockchain solutions and dApps.
• Mentor a team of blockchain developers and set technical standards.
• Define coding standards and architectural guidelines.
• Oversee the full lifecycle from conception to deployment and maintenance.
• Translate business requirements into technical specs with stakeholders.
• Conduct code reviews focusing on quality, security, and performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex blockchain issues.
• Stay updated on blockchain tech and advocate adoption where appropriate.
• Contribute to strategic planning and technical roadmaps.
