Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Backend Developer in Tembisa, Gauteng to drive a microservices initiative. You will design, develop, and deploy robust backend systems powering our core platform, while mentoring a team of developers and setting technical standards.

Qualifications

Master's degree or equivalent extensive experience in a related field.
8+ years of professional backend development, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role.
Deep expertise in distributed systems and microservices architectures.
Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Java, Python, Go, or Node.js.
Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases and message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Experience with cloud platforms and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of highly scalable microservices using modern backend technologies.
Mentor and guide a team of backend engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and architectural patterns for backend development.
