About the Role

Our client, a prominent architectural consultancy in Welkom , is searching for a highly experienced and visionary Lead Architect to spearhead their design and project management initiatives. This senior role demands exceptional leadership qualities, a deep understanding of architectural principles, and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects from inception to handover. You will be responsible for guiding design teams, managing client relationships, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and innovation are met. This is a critical leadership position for shaping the future of architectural design in the Free State.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design process for major architectural projects, from conceptualization to detailed construction documentation.
• Provide technical and design leadership to project teams, mentoring junior architects and technologists.
• Manage client communications, stakeholder engagement, and project scope, budget, and schedule.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and sustainability standards.
• Oversee the preparation of tender documents and participate in contractor selection and negotiation.
• Conduct rigorous quality control checks and site supervision to ensure design integrity.

Requirements

• Professional Architect qualification (PrArch or equivalent) and registration with SACAP.
• Minimum of 10 years of post-graduate experience in architectural practice, with significant leadership roles.
• Demonstrated expertise in leading large-scale commercial, residential, or institutional projects.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit , AutoCAD, and other relevant architectural software.
• Exceptional understanding of project management methodologies and construction practices.
