Job summary

SGS is recruiting a Laboratory Manager to oversee the operation of the laboratory and ensure ISO/IEC 17025 compliance. You will lead the lab staff, maintain quality systems, and coordinate budgeting for projects and service development.

Typical responsibilities include safety leadership, policy adherence, and providing technical direction to clients while driving continuous improvement in procedures and reporting accuracy.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years proven experience in a Gold Fire Assay Laboratory environment.
• Instrumentation skills.
• At least 5 years' management experience, with ability to lead laboratory teams and operations.
• Must have a good working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and monitors all aspects of Health and Safety in the workplace.
• Promotes the highest level of quality and ensures QMS is part of day-to-day operation.
• Communication with all staff and other management.
• Provide technical support or direction for customer services and external clients.
• Ensuring compliance with all analysis standards.
• Adhere to SGS policies, procedures, and the Management and Quality Management system.
• Assist in budgeting for specific projects and new service development.
• Development and implementation of operational tools and guidelines.
• In-house Laboratory Training.
• Liability protection (integrity of all correspondence and reports).
• Ensure effective use of communication tools.
• Resolve technical situations of unusual complexity or sensitivity.
• Ensure policy and procedure consistency; strategic planning; evaluate activities for improvements.
