Job summary

SGS is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee the operation of the laboratory, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. You will lead the team, drive ISO/IEC 17025 adherence, and coordinate with customers to deliver accurate results.

The role requires extensive mining laboratory experience, strong leadership, and a proactive approach to quality management and process improvement. Based in Sandton, the position is on-site with strong emphasis on safety and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years' proven experience in a Gold Fire Assay Laboratory environment.
• At least 5 years' management experience leading laboratory teams.
• Strong knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and quality management systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and monitors Health and Safety in the workplace.
• Ensures QMS integrated into day-to-day operations.
• Lead laboratory operations and staff direction.
• Budgeting support for projects and new services.
• Develop and implement operational tools and guidelines.
• Provide technical support to customers and external clients.
• Ensure compliance with analysis standards.
