Job summary

Vodafone Group Plc in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to design, operate and continuously improve secure, automated Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms for containerised workloads.

You will lead automation, security, observability and disaster recovery, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enable CI/CD and AI-enabled operational improvements. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years' experience, a relevant degree, and hands-on tooling like Ansible, Terraform and GitOps.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is essential.
• 3-year bachelor’s degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technology field is essential.
• 3-5 years’ experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Kubernetes and OpenShift Virtualization.
• Experience with infrastructure automation using Ansible Automation Platform, Terraform, GitOps or similar tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, operate and continuously improve secure, resilient Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms across prod and non-prod environments.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure automation and run book automation using Ansible, Terraform, GitOps.
• Implement and maintain platform security controls, RBAC, vulnerability management and image governance.
• Maintain monitoring, alerting, logging, dashboarding and backup/recovery capabilities for service continuity.
• Collaborate with teams to improve platform services and enable CI/CD and AI-enabled operational enhancements.
