Placements24 is seeking an enthusiastic Kitchen Porter / Kitchen Assistant for an entry-level role in Upington. You will support the chefs, keep the kitchen clean and organized, and help with basic food preparation in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar kitchen support role is advantageous.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Good understanding of hygiene and sanitation practices.
• Physically fit and able to stand for long periods and lift moderate weight.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Wash and clean dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment according to hygiene standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including floors, surfaces and equipment.
• Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables and peeling ingredients.
• Manage waste disposal and ensure recycling protocols are followed.
• Receive and store deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and storage of ingredients.
• Support the kitchen team by performing tasks as directed by Head Chef or Sous Chef.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety and health regulations.
