About Payment24
Payment24 is a B2B SaaS payments company headquartered in South Africa. We build white-label platforms for fleet management, payment processing, card issuing, loyalty, cloud switching and tokenisation — used by oil companies, fuel retailers, banks and enterprises across Africa, the GCC, LATAM and other emerging markets.
Our customers are large, long-standing and demanding. Several have been with us for over a decade. These are not transactional accounts — they are partnerships that need to be actively managed, protected and grown.
The role
You will own Payment24’s most important enterprise relationships.
That means three things at once. Relationship: becoming the trusted point of contact across every level of the customer organisation, from the operational teams using the platform daily to the executives who sign the contract. Delivery: making sure what we have committed to actually happens, by driving our internal teams on the customer’s behalf. Growth: understanding these businesses well enough to see where we can do more for them, and converting that into new revenue.
This role suits someone slick, credible and commercially sharp — a person who reads a room, handles a difficult conversation well, and is never the weakest presence at the table. You will represent Payment24 to some of the largest fuel and financial brands in our markets.
You will report into senior leadership and work closely with product, delivery, support and finance.
What you’ll do
Own the key account relationships
- Act as the primary relationship owner for a portfolio of named strategic enterprise accounts
- Build and maintain relationships at every level of the customer organisation — operational, management, technical and executive
- Run a structured cadence of account contact: regular reviews, on-site visits, quarterly business reviews and executive engagement
- Understand each customer’s business, market pressures and internal politics well enough to anticipate what they need before they ask
- Be the escalation point customers trust when something matters
Mine the accounts for growth
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities across our product set — fleet, card issuing, loyalty, tokenisation, switching and value-added services
- Build and maintain account development plans that map where each relationship can grow over the next 12–24 months
- Develop and present commercial proposals and business cases that stand up to enterprise procurement
- Lead renewals, pricing discussions, negotiations and contract expansions
- Maintain an accurate pipeline and forecast for your accounts
Make sure customer demands are met
- Translate customer requirements into clear, prioritised asks of our internal teams
- Work across product, delivery, support and finance to ensure commitments are delivered on time and to standard
- Track open items, SLAs, projects and escalations across your accounts, and drive them to closure
- Keep customers properly informed — no surprises, in either direction
- Feed customer insight back into product and roadmap discussions
Commercial and account governance
- Own revenue, retention and growth targets for your account portfolio
- Report on account health, risks, opportunities and performance to leadership
- Maintain accurate account records, contacts, contracts and activity in our CRM
- Monitor competitor activity within your accounts and act on the risk early
What we’re looking for
Essential
- Proven enterprise or key account management experience — you have personally owned named strategic accounts and been accountable for their retention and growth
- Exceptional presence and communication. You are polished, articulate and credible, and can hold your own with operational teams, procurement, senior management and C-level executives alike
- A demonstrable record of growing existing accounts — finding upsell and cross-sell opportunities and closing them, not just protecting revenue
- Strong commercial skills: proposals, pricing, negotiation, contracts, renewals and forecasting
- The ability to drive internal teams on a customer’s behalf without authority over them, and to keep commitments on track
- Excellent organisation — you manage multiple demanding accounts, actions and deadlines without dropping any of them
- Comfort in complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise environments with long decision cycles
- Willingness to travel internationally to key accounts
- Valid driver’s licence and passport
Advantageous
- Background in payments, fintech, banking, fuel retail, oil and gas, or enterprise SaaS
- Experience selling or managing accounts across Africa, the GCC or LATAM
- Technical fluency — enough understanding of platforms, integrations and APIs to be taken seriously by a customer’s technical team
- Relevant tertiary qualification in business, commerce or a related field
- Experience with CRM and account planning tooling
- Additional languages relevant to our regions
Why join us
- A portfolio of genuinely significant accounts — recognisable global brands, not a long tail of small logos
- Real influence: you will shape how we serve and grow our most important customers
- Direct access to leadership, and to the product and engineering teams behind the platform
- International exposure across Africa, the GCC and LATAM
- A competitive package with a performance-based incentive
