Job summary

HospitalityandOutdoor seeks a Field Guide for a live-in role at a Lodge in the Karoo, Western Cape. You will lead guided walks and drives, sharing knowledge of wildlife and the environment while ensuring guest safety and high hospitality standards.

The position requires valid guiding qualifications, a driver’s license/ PDP, and a passion for nature and guest experiences. Flexibility including weekends and public holidays is expected.

Qualifications

• Valid guiding qualifications are essential.
• Valid driver’s license and Professional Driving Permit.
• Previous Lodge guiding experience is preferred.
• Genuine passion for nature, wildlife and guest experiences.
• Strong communication and guest engagement skills.
• Professional and well-presented at all times.
• Reliable, punctual and team-oriented.
• Willing to work flexible hours, weekends and public holidays.
• Able to conduct guided walks and drives.
• Committed to maintaining guest safety.
• Able to conduct vehicle checks and daily cleaning checklists.
• Willing to assist with guest hosting in the restaurant.
• Comfortable living in a live-in Lodge environment in the Karoo.

Responsibilities

• Lead guests on guided walks, drives and lodge activities with engaging knowledge of the natural environment.
• Maintain safety, hospitality and professionalism while hosting guests.
• Assist with vehicle care, basic maintenance checks and daily cleaning duties.
• Provide guest hosting in the restaurant and collaborate with the Lodge team.
