Job summary

Shoprite Checkers (Pty) Ltd in Cape Town is seeking a Test Analyst I to translate requirements into test scenarios, prepare prerequisites and execute tests to ensure quality.

The role requires 0-1 year of software testing experience, a IT degree or diploma, and hands-on SQL skills, with ISTQB training preferred.

You will work within established testing processes, log defects, retest fixes and contribute to documentation and project retrospectives.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Information Technology or a related field.
• Formal software testing training, for example ISTQB Foundation Level or equivalent (desired).
• 0-1 years experience in software testing, application testing or a similar role (essential).
• Practical experience in manual testing, SQL and Agile delivery environments (essential).
• Working knowledge of functional, system, integration and regression testing methods (essential).
• Exposure to API testing, automated testing tools, performance testing or UAT (desired).

Responsibilities

• Test planning and case design, identifying test conditions from requirements.
• Prepare test scenarios, test cases, prerequisites, criteria and expected results.
• Identify and obtain test data, environments and supporting docs.
• Execute functional, non-functional, integration and regression tests and log results.
• Log, classify and communicate defects with detail for resolution and retesting.
• Provide status updates and help close tests with sign-off and handover.
