10X Investments (Pty) Ltd. in Cape Town is hiring a Junior Securities Lending Specialist to support the securities finance lifecycle, including inventory management, trade execution, collateral management, settlements and reporting.

You will work with the Head of Securities Finance and partner with Investment, Operations, Risk, Compliance and Technology teams, as well as external counterparties such as banks and custodians, to optimise opportunities while upholding strict risk controls.

About the role:

The Junior Securities Lending Specialist will report to the Head of Securities Finance and will work closely with the Investment, Operations, Risk, Compliance and Technology teams. The role will also interact with external market participants including banks, brokers, custodians and securities lending counterparties.

10X manages significant portfolios of listed securities and participates in the securities lending market by lending securities held within its investment portfolios to approved counterparties. Securities lending provides an opportunity to generate additional income for investors, while requiring strong risk management, operational discipline and robust controls to protect portfolio interests.

We are looking for a Junior Securities Lending Specialist to support the management and growth of 10X’s securities finance capability. The role will provide exposure to the full securities lending lifecycle, including inventory management, trade execution, counterparty monitoring, collateral management, settlements, corporate actions and reporting.

The successful candidate will combine analytical ability, attention to detail and commercial curiosity with a strong control mindset. They will support the optimisation of securities lending opportunities while ensuring all activity is conducted within appropriate risk, compliance and operational frameworks.

This role is suited to someone who is passion to financial markets, enjoys solving complex problems and wants to develop specialist expertise in securities finance within a growing investment management business.

Responsibilities: Including but not limited to:

You will be expected to take ownership, solve problems independently and contribute beyond your defined responsibilities. This role offers exposure to multiple areas of financial markets and will require curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to continuously learn.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Monitor securities held within 10X portfolios that are available for lending, ensuring lending activity aligns with portfolio objectives, liquidity requirements and internal risk parameters.
• Support the optimisation of securities lending utilisation and revenue generation while maintaining appropriate risk and control standards.
• Monitor market demand, lending rates, securities availability and lending opportunities within the securities finance market.
• Assist with the execution and administration of securities lending transactions, ensuring accuracy, completeness and adherence to agreed processes.
• Monitor outstanding securities loans, including recalls, returns, settlements and exceptions, and proactively elevate issues where required.
• Support the management of securities lending activity around corporate actions, including dividends, index changes, rights issues and other market events, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to protect portfolio interests.
• Work closely with custodians, brokers, counterparties and internal stakeholders to resolve operational issues and maintain effective controls throughout the securities lending lifecycle.
• Assist with collateral monitoring, collateral sufficiency checks, reconciliations and reporting to ensure appropriate protection against counterparty exposure.
• Maintain accurate records of securities lending positions, revenue, rates, collateral, counterparties and related risk information.
• Prepare reporting and analysis on securities lending activity, utilisation, revenue, counterparty exposure and operational exceptions.
• Assist with monitoring counterparty activity and ensuring lending transactions remain within approved counterparty, regulatory and risk limits.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, automation and control frameworks.
• Develop a strong understanding of South African equity markets, securities finance, investment operations and the risks associated with securities lending.
• Assist in ensuring securities lending activity is conducted in accordance with internal policies, regulatory requirements and best-practice market standards.

Requirements: Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Investments, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2-5 years' experience in financial markets, investment management, securities operations, custody, stockbroking, trading support or a related environment.
• A strong interest in capital markets, equities and securities finance.
• Exposure to securities lending, investment operations or financial markets would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
