Job summary

University of Fort Hare is seeking a Junior Sales Engineer for a permanent vacancy based in Woodmead, Gauteng. The role requires a chemical engineering or related degree and at least 2 years of sales/business development experience in the water/wastewater sector.

You will monitor RFQs, prepare quotations and proposals, build client relationships, and drive new business while managing ongoing accounts. Strong knowledge of water treatment technologies and MS Office is essential.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification, preferably in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years' sales/business development experience in the water/wastewater industry.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment systems, chemicals, consumables, and spares.
• Established network within industrial, consultant, and supplier markets.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor client portals for RFQs and tender opportunities.
• Prepare and submit quotations, proposals, and tenders.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities through client visits, networking, and cold calling.
• Manage the sales pipeline from prospecting to contract award.
• Track and report on sales activities and pipeline performance.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and SHEQ requirements.
