Placements24 seeks a Junior Mechanical Engineer for our client in Bloemfontein to support maintenance, troubleshooting and improvement of plant machinery. You will work closely with experienced engineers, learning practical skills in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on experience, safety compliance, and gradual responsibility in preventative maintenance and equipment upgrades, with strong training and mentorship opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Fundamental understanding of statics, dynamics and materials.
• Familiarity with industrial machinery and maintenance practices is preferred.
• Basic CAD viewing/modifications are a plus.
• Strong problem-solving aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance, repair and installation of plant equipment.
• Participate in troubleshooting to identify and resolve mechanical failures.
• Support implementation of preventative maintenance programs and schedule tasks.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and analyses for design modifications.
• Prepare reports on maintenance activities and equipment performance.
• Adhere to safety regulations and company policies.
