Job summary

Elchemie Recruitment is seeking a Junior Laboratory Analyst in Johannesburg to support daily lab operations. The role is open to candidates with Matric and basic lab exposure, including sample handling and data entry in a controlled environment.

You will assist with ICP OES-related tasks, follow ISO 17025 procedures, and help maintain quality and safety standards while growing your laboratory skills in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Matric required; Mathematics and Science will be an advantage.
• Relevant laboratory experience will be an advantage.
• Basic computer literacy and data capturing will be beneficial; knowledge of LIMS/ISO 17025 is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Receive samples, label, log and track samples using LIMS.
• Perform reagent preparation and assist with routine lab analysis on ICP OES under supervision.
• Prepare worksheets, standards and samples as required; support quality control checks.
• Maintain clean, safe and organized work areas and follow safety and quality system requirements.
• Assist with secure handling and storage of high-grade or precious metal samples.

About the Role

Our client, located on Johannesburg's East Rand, is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Junior Laboratory Analyst to support daily laboratory operations. This position is open a a wide variety of applicants, from Grade 12 upwards. Current tertiary students in relevant fields are also invited to apply. The successful candidate will assist with sample handling, basic analysis support, LIMS capturing and quality control while following safety and ISO 17025 requirements.

What you’ll be doing

• Receive samples and labelling, log and track samples using LIMS.
• Reagent preparation
• Assist with routine laboratory analysis on ICP OES and instrument checks under supervision.
• Prepare worksheets, standards and samples as required.
• Support quality control checks and report any result or equipment concerns.
• Maintain clean, safe and organized work areas.
• Follow health, safety, PPE, waste handling and quality system requirements.
• Assist with secure handling and storage of high-grade or precious metal samples.

Experience and Qualifications:

• Matric required; Mathematics and Science will be an advantage.
• Relevant laboratory experience will be an advantage.
• Basic computer literacy and experience with data capturing will be beneficial.
• Knowledge of LIMS, ISO 17025 or laboratory quality systems will be an advantage.
