Job summary

Codehesion is seeking a Software Tester to join the QA team in Centurion, SA, to ensure quality across products. You will review stories, write and execute test plans, and collaborate with developers, product managers, and designers to deliver reliable software solutions.

You will identify defects, document results, and contribute to automated testing efforts while maintaining clear reporting on progress and risks. A strong foundation in testing practices and JIRA usage is expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

As a Software Tester, you will work under the guidance of the QA team to ensure the quality and reliability of our software products.

Your role will involve creating and executing test plans, identifying defects, and contributing to the overall enhancement of our software quality assurance processes. You will collaborate closely with the QA team and cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and designers, to implement effective quality assurance processes and deliver exceptional software solutions to our clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and analyse user stories, requirements, and specifications to develop test plans and test cases.
• Collaborate with the QA team and development teams to understand project requirements. Execute test cases covering various testing types such as functional, integration, regression, and performance testing.
• Identify, document, and report defects and issues discovered during testing. Work closely with the QA team and development teams to provide clear and detailed defect reports for efficient resolution.
• Create comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases based on project requirements. Maintain accurate and up-to-date testing documentation.
• Collaborate with QA team and cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and product managers, to understand project goals and requirements. Provide regular updates on testing progress and issues.
• Stay updated with industry best practices, testing methodologies, and emerging technologies to enhance your testing skills and contribute to the improvement of testing processes.
• Participate in regression testing efforts to ensure that new software features or changes do not negatively impact existing functionalities.
• Assist the QA team to maintain automated test scripts using testing tools and frameworks.
• Provide regular status reports on testing progress, including testing results, defect statistics, and potential risks, to the QA team and project stakeholders.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• IT related qualification advantageous - BCom IT or Informatics, BSc IT, BSc Computer Science, Diploma or Certificate in Development, Testing Qualification (EG ISTQB Foundation or equivalent).
• Interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to write accurate and concise replication steps.
• Demonstrate sound work ethics.
• Ability to communicate defects to developers in a diplomatic way.
• Experience working with test and defect management tools (JIRA).
• Proven experience of writing pragmatic test strategies, planning test scenarios, writing and executing test plans and test cases and creation of required test data.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to think ahead, with good eye for detail and routing out / searching around those dark corners.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels, be an upbeat pro-active team player.
