Job summary

The Sydney Brenner Institute for Molecular Bioscience (SBIMB) seeks a capable bioinformatics analyst to contribute to Africa-focused genomic research. You will support data analysis, manage datasets, and help build reproducible workflows under the guidance of senior investigators.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree (or Bachelor’s with strong experience) in Bioinformatics, Genetics or related field.
• Experience in data analysis and management.
• Exposure to genomic datasets advantageous.
• Experience with HPC environments.
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix and scripting (R, Python, or Bash).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to cutting-edge bioinformatics analyses focused on African populations.
• Support data analysis and management of multi-omic datasets (genomic, transcriptomic, and related data).
• Maintain reproducible workflows, scripts, and clear documentation.
• Assist capacity-building activities across partner African institutions together with the PI and report to the Project team using tools like Jira, Trello, GitHub, etc. to track progress.
