Job description

The Opportunity

Are you a newly qualified CA(SA) looking to move beyond traditional accounting and build your commercial experience within the fast-paced iGaming and sports betting industry?

Our client is looking for a Finance Manager to join their team and take ownership of key financial management, reporting, controls and compliance activities.

This is a hands-on opportunity suited to a newly qualified CA(SA) or finance professional with up to two years' post-qualification experience who is ready to apply their technical accounting expertise in a commercial environment.

You’ll work closely with senior leadership and multiple business functions, gaining exposure to everything from P&L and cash flow management to gaming-related reconciliations, taxation, regulatory reporting and commercial decision-making.

What You'll Be Responsible For:
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
  • Support the preparation and analysis of management accounts.
  • Oversee key financial reconciliations, including banking, suppliers, payments and customer/gaming wallets.
  • Monitor cash flow and contribute to short- and medium-term forecasting.
  • Support annual budgeting and ongoing budget vs actual analysis.
  • Investigate financial variances and provide meaningful insights to senior management.
  • Partner with the CEO, Director and departmental leaders on financial and commercial decisions.
  • Assess the financial impact of promotions, operational initiatives and supplier arrangements.
  • Maintain and strengthen financial controls, processes and segregation of duties.
  • Oversee supplier payments and ensure appropriate authorisation and cash-flow alignment.
  • Support VAT, PAYE, income tax, gambling taxes and applicable levies.
  • Assist with Gaming Board and other regulatory financial submissions.
  • Coordinate annual external audit requirements and work with auditors, tax advisors, banks and other financial partners.
  • Support payroll reviews and finance-related reconciliations.
  • Help develop and improve finance policies, procedures and controls.
  • Work closely with Operations, Risk & Compliance, Marketing and HR to support sound financial management across the business.
  • Identify discrepancies, unusual transactions, control weaknesses and financial risks, escalating where necessary.
What We're Looking For:
  • Qualified CA(SA) with SAICA registration or eligibility for registration.
  • Completed SAICA articles/training contract.
  • Newly qualified CA(SA) or up to 2 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS.
  • Good understanding of financial statements and management accounts.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation and balance-sheet review skills.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management.
  • Working knowledge of South African taxation, including VAT, PAYE and income tax.
  • Strong Excel and MS Office skills.
  • Experience with accounting/ERP systems.
  • Ability to work accurately with large volumes of financial data.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Previous commercial, iGaming or gambling experience is advantageous, but not essential.
Industry Knowledge:

You’ll ideally have an interest in developing your understanding of the financial mechanics behind iGaming, including:

  • Gaming-related financial flows and customer wallet reconciliations.
  • Gambling taxes and levies.
  • Gaming Board reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • AML/KYC-related financial controls.
  • Foreign supplier and software-provider payments.
  • The relationship between player activity, revenue, costs, profitability and cash flow.
The Person We're Looking For:

This role would suit a CA(SA) who is commercially curious, analytical and ready to take ownership.

You should be someone who:

  • Has exceptional attention to detail.
  • Takes accountability and follows tasks through to completion.
  • Is confident identifying issues and challenging discrepancies.
  • Can communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Has strong professional ethics and understands the importance of confidentiality.
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Is eager to learn the iGaming industry and its regulatory environment.
  • Has the confidence to provide a financial perspective while remaining open to learning and development.
  • Demonstrates the potential to grow into a broader finance leadership position.
Why This Role?

This is more than a traditional accounting position. It offers a newly qualified CA(SA) the opportunity to develop commercial, operational and leadership exposure while gaining hands‑on experience within the iGaming environment.
