Placements24 is seeking a junior Exploration Geologist to join our client in Mahikeng, North West. The role blends field and office tasks, offering an introduction to mineral exploration under experienced geologists.

You will assist in mapping, sampling, core logging, data compilation, and reporting, with a focus on development within South Africa's mining sector. A supportive team and hybrid work arrangement await.

Qualifications

• BSc Honours in Geology or related earth science field.
• Strong academic record with geology-related coursework.
• Basic knowledge of GIS software (ArcGIS/Leapfrog).
• Willingness to travel and work in remote field locations.
• Good observational skills for geological data collection.
• Ability to work in a team and follow senior geologists' guidance.

Responsibilities

• Assist geological mapping and surface sampling programs.
• Perform core logging for exploration drilling programs.
• Help plan and supervise drilling activities.
• Compile and manage geological data in databases and GIS.
• Prepare preliminary geological interpretations and reports under supervision.
• Maintain field equipment and follow safety protocols in the field (Mahikeng).
