Placements24 in Paarl, Western Cape, seeks a Junior Chemical Engineer to join their Process Design team. This entry-level role offers hands-on exposure to developing PFDs and P&IDs, basic process calculations, and supporting technical documentation under experienced engineers.

You will learn company design standards, assist in process safety reviews, and contribute to diverse chemical engineering projects in a collaborative environment, while building a strong foundation for a career in process

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Strong understanding of fundamental chemical engineering principles.
• Familiarity with process simulation software (Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD) is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in technical work.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, eager to learn and develop professionally.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in developing Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform basic process calculations related to mass and energy balances, fluid flow, and heat transfer.
• Gather and organize technical data for process design packages.
• Support the preparation of equipment specifications and vendor data review.
• Assist in process safety reviews and risk assessments.
• Learn and apply company design standards and best practices in all tasks.
