Placements24 is assisting a well‑established Paarl law firm in seeking a Junior Associate for the Litigation Department. The role offers mentorship, exposure to varied litigation tasks, and a hybrid work arrangement with remote options for specific tasks.

You will support senior attorneys with case management, research, drafting legal documents, and preparation for court appearances, gaining a strong foundation in the field.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Newly qualified or up to 3 years post-qualification experience in litigation.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Must commute to Paarl for required in-office presence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, case law, and legal principles.
• Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, and other legal documents.
• Assist in preparing for depositions, hearings, and trials.
• Manage discovery processes, including document review and organization.
• Communicate with clients to gather information and provide case updates.
• Liaise with opposing counsel and court clerks.
• Maintain organized case files and manage deadlines effectively.
• Provide support to senior litigation attorneys in all aspects of case management.
• Attend court proceedings and client meetings.

About the Role

Our client, a well-established law firm situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands, Paarl, Western Cape , is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Associate to join their busy Litigation Department. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain broad experience in various aspects of litigation within a supportive and professional environment. While the position is primarily office-based to facilitate mentorship and team collaboration, we are offering a flexible remote option for certain tasks and days, allowing for a hybrid working arrangement. The successful candidate will assist senior attorneys in managing caseloads, conducting research, drafting legal documents, and preparing for court appearances. This is an ideal starting point for a budding litigator eager to develop their skills and build a strong foundation in the legal field. You will be exposed to diverse legal challenges, contributing to significant cases under expert guidance.
