We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Junior Associate Attorney to join our team based in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or early-career lawyer to specialize in the dynamic field of energy law, encompassing renewable energy projects, conventional energy, and regulatory compliance. The position is office-based, fostering close mentorship and collaboration within our experienced legal team. Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior attorneys in advising clients on a range of energy-related legal matters, including project development, financing, and regulatory issues.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on energy law, environmental regulations, and commercial transactions.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to energy projects.
• Support due diligence investigations for energy sector transactions.
• Prepare legal memoranda, opinions, and correspondence for clients and internal use.
• Attend client meetings, regulatory hearings, and site visits as required.
• Stay current with developments in energy law and policy in South Africa and globally.
• Assist with the management of energy-related litigation and dispute resolution matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree.
• Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• 0-3 years of post-admission experience.
• A demonstrated interest or coursework in Energy Law, Environmental Law, or Commercial Law is highly desirable.
• Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Proactive attitude and a commitment to continuous learning.
• Proficiency in standard legal software and research databases.
• Willingness to work from our offices in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.
