The candidate should have an LLB, be admitted to SA High Court (advantageous), and possess at least 3 years of legal experience in corporate/commercial law, with strong research and writing skills.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the energy sector, is seeking a diligent and motivated Legal Associate to join their team based in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal . The Legal Associate will play a key role in supporting the legal department's operations, focusing on contract administration, regulatory compliance, and general legal matters pertinent to the energy industry. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial contracts, including supply agreements and service contracts.
• Support the legal team in ensuring compliance with energy sector regulations and environmental laws.
• Conduct legal research on various matters relevant to the company's operations and strategic objectives.
• Manage legal documentation and maintain organized legal records and databases.
• Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and legal counsel.
• Assist in the preparation of legal opinions and reports for management.
• Support litigation and dispute resolution efforts as directed by senior legal staff.
• Help develop and implement legal policies and procedures within the department.
• Review and advise on legal aspects of project development and operational matters.
• Ensure adherence to corporate governance principles across the business.

Requirements

• Completed LLB degree or equivalent qualification.
• Admission as an Attorney or Advocate of the High Court of South Africa is advantageous.
