Job summary

Century City hospitality business is seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join the Finance team. The role offers practical experience while you continue your studies in Accounting or Financial Management.

You will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining exposure to day-to-day accounting, reconciliations, financial controls and month-end processes within the hospitality sector.

Qualifications

• Currently studying towards an Accounting, Financial Management or related qualification.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and an understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Good numerical and analytical ability.
• A high level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with large volumes of transactions.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn and a team-focused approach.
• Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience would be advantageous.
• Hospitality finance exposure and experience with reconciliations and spreadsheet management would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the cashbook on Xero, processing and allocating bank transactions accurately.
• Maintain bank transfer allocation spreadsheets and investigate banking discrepancies.
• Complete daily credit card reconciliations across various outlets.
• Reconcile bank transfers against Opera transactions and investigate variances.
• Assist with monthly journals, month-end close procedures and period-end reconciliations.
• Verify new supplier banking details in line with internal control procedures.
• Assist the Creditors team and support general accounting duties.
• Maintain accurate financial records and contribute to finance projects and process improvements.
